Editor / Cinematographer / Director | Joseph Assi

Joseph Assi was born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon and began editing film at the age of 14.  His filmmaking talents led to a scholarship at the University of the Holy Spirit – where he received his BA in Film and a Masters in Cinematography from the University of St. Joseph He is the first Palestinian refugee to be awarded scholarships from both  prestigious schools.

Just shy of 25 years of age, he worked as a news and story editor for LBCI and taught Editing & Script Development at  the Academy of Arts & Sciences, Beirut.

In 2010, Joseph was chosen to star in the Award winning documentary series, ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA, which brought him to America to film the series and culminated in his being hired by the production team as translator and series editor.

He has been working with Heyou Media on developing web-series New Media content and recently joined the faculty of The Film School in Seattle,  teaching editing for new media storytelling.

He has been honored with numerous awards for his work on the Documentaries: AMERICAN CARAVAN, LIFE AFTER DEATH and Short Films: ANGEL ROAD, SHOTGUN WEDDING and on going TV Series, ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA, ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA II, and ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA III
